Exactly! You just proved my point.
What I am saying is that, instead of feeling irate, assess the situation honestly:
1.Is this the one white person who doesn't receive any white privilege? (Racism without Racists)
2.Is this the one white person (or any person, for that matter) who isn't part of our world, one in which European dominance has determined quality of life worldwide for 500 years?
If the answer to these questions is 'yes,' then it's no wonder white people are irate.
If, however, the last 500 years happened in real life, then a reassessment of one's 'merit' may be in order. Unfortunately, the last 500 years did happen.
Your response is exactly why our current system continues: if white people can't admit that they have a racial advantage, then the (very obvious) racial disadvantage that people of color have is erased.
We know our disadvantage exists because it damages us routinely and because we watch as it damages a wide range of POC’s around us. So, white privilege exists as well.
Thanks again for proving my point.
